Relationship Types (AEM vs SOTO)
Overview
Items can relate to each other in two different ways, depending on how you want the connection to feel and behave.
SOTO: Text-Based, Semantic Links
Soto
- Use SOTO when a connection is part of the written content.
- Example: a thought mentions another thought or topic inside its text.
- This feels natural and human, like a reference inside a sentence.
AEM: Structured, Ordered Links
Aem
- Use AEM when relationships need structure or order.
- Example: a dimension contains multiple contexts in a ranked order.
- This is better for lists, rankings, or curated structures.
In Short
Summary
- SOTO = semantic, text-embedded links.
- AEM = structured, ordered links with extra meaning.
