Relationship Types (AEM vs SOTO)

Overview

Items can relate to each other in two different ways, depending on how you want the connection to feel and behave.

Soto

  • Use SOTO when a connection is part of the written content.
  • Example: a thought mentions another thought or topic inside its text.
  • This feels natural and human, like a reference inside a sentence.

Aem

  • Use AEM when relationships need structure or order.
  • Example: a dimension contains multiple contexts in a ranked order.
  • This is better for lists, rankings, or curated structures.
